"How can you buy or sell the sky,
the warmth of the land?
The idea is strange to us.
If we do not own the freshness of the air
and the sparkle of the water,
how can you buy them?."
Based
on a version of the speech edited by Ted Perry in 1972.

About The Talkshop
The Talkshop is a consulting firm established by Dr.Mathai
Baker
Fenn
in 1996. Today the firm is a networked organization
offering services to organizations that want to build stronger ties
with their stakeholders, both internal and external. We aim to help
individuals build better relationships with oneself, other people and
the natural environment.
The Talkshop's mission
is Nurturing
Relationships
and it is built on the idea that there are two ways in which a person
can relate to another person. First is to treat the other person as an
object, instrumental in acheiving one's objectives. What Martin Buber
calls " I-It " relationship. In this view, we establish relationships
in order to achieve an objective, make a profit, etc. The alternative
view is to relate to people as primarily human beings. Buber calls this
the " I-Thou " relationship, and this involves respect and trust.
This is an important distinction for people involved in SERViCES. It
gives people the satisfaction of being treated as human beings. Rather
than mere customers, or patients, or students.
